Melanie Bahl, President
Melanie Bahl is an NCIDQ Certificate Holder, # 024690 and a LEED Accredited Professional. Melanie received her education from a university accredited by CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation, formally FIDER). She has been in the design industry since 1997 working in multiple facets from a designer in various architectural firms, trade showrooms and as a space planner/designer at Interiors West, a commercial furnishings dealership which she cofounded in 2008. Her motivating factor for design is to improve the quality of life, to increase productivity, and protect the health, safety, and the welfare of the public.
She welcomes anyone who is interested in helping with this important cause.
Kaye Christiansen Englert, Treasurer
Kaye Christiansen Englert, ASID has practiced Interior Design in the Intermountain Area for over 30 years and in the founder of Christiansen Englert Design / Design Plus, Inc. She received her BFA in Interior Design, is a NCIDQ Certificate Holder #002366 and a Professional Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and has served as President of the Intermountain Chapter, Rocky Mountain Regional Vice President and as a National Director on the National Board of Directors of ASID. She is an associate member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and has served on the Advisory Committee for the Interior Design Department at Utah State University and the Art Institute of Salt Lake. Her design expertise includes commercial, health care, senior living, hospitality, residential, kitchens and baths and even corporate jets.
Kaye is a co-founder of Ideal for Utah and has been an advocate for licensing professional interior designers and educating those around us as to the the difference a professional makes - based on education, experience an examination.
Amy Coombs, Lobbyist
Amy Coombs is an experienced business professional for over 12 years, seasoned strategic consultant, and registered lobbyist. She has a BS in Psychology from Brigham Young University and MSW from the University of Southern California, with a speciality concentration in COPA. Amy has secured significant policy, advocacy, legislative and lobbying experience working across the United States. Her experience working from grassroots campaigns to leading congressional campaigns ensures she brings added value as IDEAL's lobbyist. Notably, Amy is a sought after speaker, including speaking engagements at IIDA's National Legislative Symposium. She brings a uniquely collaborative approach when addressing concerns of non-profits, corporations, and government agencies that is notably refreshing and productive.
